Microscope 597 (unknown maker; double pillar
French microscope; c. 1900)
Microscope
597 was probably made in France by the late 19th or early 20th
century. The instrument is unsigned, but similar double pillar instruments,
with different styles of bases, appear in antique catalogues of American and
French companies such as B. Kahn & Son, Emille Deyrolle and E. Vion (Figure
1).
